This week’s Eclectic Best is a little different than the usual picks, but her voice is too good not to share with you.  I’m talking about Rebecca Ferguson.  Her voice is a beautiful blend of Aretha Franklin meets Amy Winehouse (and if you really know me, then you know Amy Winehouse is one of my all-time favorite singers).  Of course, Rebecca is not new to our London friends and British X-Factor fans, but her album is such a breath of fresh air for me.  Enjoy “Nothing’s Real But Love” and be sure to check out her other tunes (I also have “Too Good to Lose” on repeat).

Up.

I love traveling for work the most when I can fly in and out of a city on the same day and only need a really good tote or satchel to carry my folio, gossip rags, pens and snacks.  Plus snapping a few pictures of fellow travelers makes it all the better.  And  yup, that’s me in the late afternoon, wrinkled, tired after being up since 4am and broad shouldered.

travel Here’s a sampling of the songs I listened to during the hour-long flight to Boise.

I am honestly beginning to think the best songs out there have come from one-hit wonders, including Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry.  If you’re an 80’s music lover whether it’s synth-pop, hair bands or rap music (was it called hip hop then?) this song must be in your music file.

As for the style can I just say that I’m loving the door-knockers earrings,  color and patterns and the hilarious back-up dancers, Neneh! And if you’re like me and have no clue what a buffalo stance is, check out the various definitions according to Urban Dictionary.
